Getting a quote — FAQ

What we need, how long it takes, and what the quote will actually tell you.

Ask a question

How long does a quote take?

One working day for components, 48 hours for tooling and mould repairs — provided the enquiry has a drawing or sample and a target quantity. Enquiries missing those take longer, because the delay is the back-and-forth, not the pricing.

What do I need to send for an accurate quote?

Six things: a drawing or sample (PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES or a physical part), the material or the application, the finish, colour and any printing with artwork, your first-order and annual quantity, the tolerances that actually matter, and your required delivery date.

Each one changes the number in a specific way — our quote checklist explains how.

What will the quote include?

The per-piece price at your volume, tooling cost shown separately if a new mould is needed, the minimum order quantity, the lead time from sample approval, and the assumptions the price rests on.

That last item is the useful one. An assumption you disagree with is far easier to correct than a bare number with no reasoning behind it.

Is there a charge for quoting or for samples?

Quoting is free, including design-review feedback on whether your part will mould cleanly. Samples from existing tooling are usually provided at no charge for a serious enquiry.

Where a new mould is required, the tooling is chargeable and quoted as its own line — but you will see that figure before committing to anything.

Can you quote if my design is not finalised?

Yes, and you should ask us to. Send what you have and say what is still open — we will quote the likely cases around it. A price with a stated assumption is more useful than waiting a fortnight for a specification to be signed off.

We will also flag anything in the current design that will cause moulding trouble, which is often cheaper to hear before the drawing is frozen than after.

Do I need a new mould, or can you use existing tooling?

Sometimes we already hold a suitable tool — standard dial ring diameters in the 28–45 mm range are the most likely case. That removes the tooling cost and several weeks of lead time.

It is always worth asking before commissioning a new mould. Send the drawing and we will tell you which it is.

What payment and delivery terms do you work on?

Terms are agreed at the quote stage rather than fixed sitewide, and depend on order size, whether tooling is involved and whether it is a first order. Ex-works collection and door delivery are both possible, in India and for export.

Tell us in the enquiry whether you are arranging your own freight, so the quote reflects it.
