Mahalaxmi Industries / Quality
QUALITY IS
BUILT IN.
Every component goes through stage-wise checks — raw material, first-article, in-process, surface, final and documentation. Not just a final inspection.
QC Workflow
Incoming Material Inspection
Raw-material batches tested for grade, moisture and datasheet conformance before entering production.
First Article Inspection
First parts off a run measured against drawings; production continues only after dimensional approval.
In-Process Monitoring
Operators run periodic dimensional and visual checks during the run to catch drift before scrap.
Surface & Visual
Every batch inspected for sink, flash, discolouration and print quality under controlled lighting.
Final Measurement
Finished parts measured with calibrated instruments. Only conforming parts are packed.
Batch Documentation
Each shipment ships with batch ID, inspection data and material certificates for traceability.
Measurement & Testing
Digital Callipers
Dimensional measurement of critical features across every batch.
Micrometers
Outside and inside — for wall thickness and bore measurements.
Profile Projector
Optical comparator for profile and contour verification against drawings.
Surface Roughness Tester
Contact profilometer for Ra readings on finished parts.
Hardness Tester
Shore hardness for polymers and mould steel verification.
Go / No-Go Gauges
Custom gauges for high-speed pass/fail inspection of critical dimensions.

Quality and inspection — FAQ
How tolerances are held, what gets measured, and what you receive with the consignment.
Question not answered here? Send your drawing or a description and we will reply with a specific answer, not a brochure.
Ask a question
What tolerances can you actually hold in production?
±0.05 mm on critical features as standard across moulded watch components, tightening to ±0.03 mm on movement holders and spacer rings and running to ±0.08 mm on larger cases. Pad print registration holds ±0.1 mm. Surface finish on dial rings runs Ra 0.4 to Ra 1.6 µm.
These are production figures held across a run, not best-case sample numbers.
How are watch components inspected?
Every new part starts with a first-article inspection against the approved sample and the drawing. Production is then checked in-process at set intervals on the critical dimensions you have marked, with dimensional inspection using digital callipers and gauges, plus visual inspection for cosmetic defects on any face visible in the finished watch.
Records are kept per batch and can be supplied with the consignment if you ask for them at the quote stage.
Do you provide inspection reports and documentation?
Yes, on request. We can supply batch inspection records, dimensional reports against your marked critical dimensions, and material confirmation with the shipment.
Ask for it when you request the quote rather than after the parts are packed — documentation that has to be reconstructed afterwards is slower and less useful than records captured as the batch runs.
What happens if parts are out of specification?
We replace them. If a batch misses the agreed tolerance, we will rework or remake it, and we will tell you what caused it — mould wear, a material lot change, a process drift — rather than just swapping the stock.
Where the cause is tool wear, correction happens in our own tool room, usually in days rather than weeks.
How do you prevent fitment problems between components?
The most reliable answer is single sourcing. When the dial ring, case, dial, glass and movement holder all come from us, the stack-up is checked as a set rather than five vendors each holding their own tolerance in isolation.
On top of that, every new part goes through a sample stage so you can verify fitment in your own assembly before production starts. Details on watch parts manufacturing.
Which dimensions should I mark as critical on my drawing?
Only the ones that genuinely control function or fitment — usually a bore, a seat diameter, a snap feature and an overall height. Mark those tightly and leave everything else at a general tolerance.
A blanket ±0.02 mm across every dimension on the drawing raises the price, slows the cycle and increases scrap, without making the watch any better. If you are unsure which features matter, send the drawing and we will suggest which to tighten.
