Dial rings are small. They are also the single component most often rejected in final watch assembly when a supplier takes shortcuts on tooling or material control. For OEM watch brands sourcing from India, the difference between a good dial-ring vendor and a frustrating one comes down to three things: cavity accuracy, repeatable fitment, and honesty about MOQ.
At Mahalaxmi Industries in Greater Noida, we have been manufacturing watch dial rings for Indian and export watch brands since 2006. This guide covers the questions that come up most often during the first conversation with a new buyer.
What is a watch dial ring?
A dial ring — sometimes called a chapter ring or index ring — is the moulded or stamped component that sits between the dial and the crystal. It holds hour indices, carries brand text and defines the visual "frame" of the watch face. On affordable quartz watches it is almost always injection-moulded in ABS or PC; on higher-end pieces it may be plated brass.
Materials we supply
- ABS — cost-effective, easy to plate, good for indoor fashion watches
- Polycarbonate (PC) — impact-resistant, holds tight detail on the index profile
- Nylon 6/6 — structural strength for snap-fit rings that double as dial retainers
- POM — dimensional stability, used where the ring supports mechanical fitment
Typical specifications
Our standard watch dial rings ship in diameters from 28 mm to 45 mm, thicknesses 0.8 mm to 2.5 mm, and tolerances of ±0.05 mm on critical dimensions. Surface finish ranges from Ra 0.4 (mirror) to Ra 1.6 µm (textured) depending on the final look you're going for.
MOQ and lead times
Minimum order quantity is 500 pieces for standard sizes. Most buyers run 10,000–50,000 pieces per month, and for those volumes we hold dedicated tooling on our shop floor. Lead time on repeat orders with existing tooling is 7–14 working days. New tooling adds 3–4 weeks.
How we quote
Send us a 2D drawing or a STEP file. Our engineers review it for DFM — material, tolerance, moulding feasibility — and come back within one working day with a price and timeline. If you only have a physical sample, ship it to us and we'll reverse-engineer the CAD at no extra cost.
Why Greater Noida matters
Most of India's watch assembly capacity sits within 200 km of Greater Noida. Shipping components from a Noida manufacturer to assemblers in Delhi, Gurgaon, Meerut or Dehradun takes hours, not days. For export buyers, the corridor to IGI Airport cargo is short and well-understood.
What comes next
If you're evaluating a new supplier, start with a small pilot. We happily run a 500-piece trial batch against your drawing so you can verify fitment in your own assembly line before committing to volume. Request a quote with your specifications and we'll come back within one business day.
